farm in Nantucket recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

BARNSTABLE STATE REP CELEBRATES LOCAL WOMAN’S 100TH BIRTHDAY


CENTERVILLE, MA — Mary Hamblin Appleton Wasierski, born March 3rd, 1917, at the Appleton family farm in Nantucket recently celebrated her 100th birthday. A longtime Cape Cod resident, Mrs. Hamblin raised her family in Nantucket, Falmouth, and Hawaii; following her husband of 62 years, Henry’s, duties as a career United States Coast Guardsman. Henry retired a Chief Petty Officer after a multifaceted service career which included work on icebreakers, rescue vessels, and as a lighthouse keeper. Beyond being a military wife, Mary is also the mother to three sons, who are all military veterans, and a lovely daughter with whom she lives with.


Representative Will Crocker, Mary’s state representative in the 2nd Barnstable, presented Mrs. Hamblin with a citation, on behalf of himself and State Senator Cyr, for her century of dedication and service to her both country and family. Also received was a Governor’s Citation, from Lt. Governor Polito and Governor Charlie Baker.
