Representative Crocker Supports Representative Hunt's Initiative to bring wireless internet access competition to the Cape

Barnstable, MA—Second Barnstable District State Representative Will Crocker was one of the first co-sponsors of Sandwich State Representative Randy Hunt’s budget amendment, Amendment #523, An Amendment Establishing Competitive Internet Access Throughout Barnstable, Dukes, and Nantucket Counties. This amendment would set aside $225,000 for the Commonwealth to design and develop a pilot program with OpenCape which would allow access to competitive residential internet service. OpenCape, a non-profit which aims to help municipalities, has the ability “funnel the entire world's internet traffic through it, multiple times over. It's incredible, it's underused, and it's right here on the Cape,” stated Representative Hunt.

As one of the original co-sponsors of the bill Representative Crocker is in full support of what Representative Hunt and OpenCape are attempting to accomplish. “Competition is key to the consumer getting to best buy for their dollar. By investing in this pilot project, the Cape and Islands will have an opportunity to have a choice. For too long we have been held captive by Comcast with no relief in sight.  This will open the door to competition.”
